Dear Make-A-Wish,
We want to thank all of you at Make-A-Wish and all of those involved in Michael’s Trip. At the age of 14 he was diagnosed with leukemia. Through the outstanding care of the many people at CHOP and the prayers of family and friends, his life was saved. He is now doing terrific finishing his second of three years of chemotherapy. His course has been rough at times. Ultimately, his bravery and grace has been a shining light to our family. This trip for Michael and our entire family was truly a once-in-a-lifetime adventure. From the very beginning planning stages to our journey home from Rome, your tireless journey to make Michael smile and forget about his illness for a while was absolutely superb!
Some of the highlights in Rome included tours of the monuments and ancient city. An unbelievable tour of the Vatican and Sistine chapel led by Caitlyn, an Art History major; incredible accommodations and meal suggestions and of course, our day with the Pope. Michael personally visited with the Holy Father, who blessed him with his words and hands. We received terrific picture of the visit. This day could not have gone better, especially because of our guides, Marco and Claudia. Each night our family together composed a detailed journal of the day’s adventures so we can savor these special memories for years to come.
Honestly we can’t thank you and your generosity enough. The lasting impact you have made on our lives will not be forgotten.
Michael and family
