Melanie's Wish

Melanie at LA Ink From the moment the limo arrived at the hotel, Melanie's family immediately acquired a taste of the Hollywood lifestyle. Although anxious about her first tattoo, Melanie was eager and excited to meet Kat Von D and experience the "LA Ink" tattoo shop. It was the family's first trip to Los Angeles and they were absolutely impressed with the west coast culture. Melanie texted with vigor as she kept her friends back home updated on every moment of her wish. As we arrived at the tattoo shop, we were instructed to park around the block and walk to the store in order to avoid attention. This excited Melanie and her parents even more, they loved being incognito--it made them feel special.

Melanie was greeted by shop manager Adrianne, who was very pleasant and accommodating to the family. The network was filming a scene for an episode of "LA Ink", thus the crew instructed everyone to remain quiet while they filmed. The Conway's were thrilled to see a real Hollywood production in action-Melanie's eyes lit up as the cameras began to roll. After the filming, it was finally Melanie's turn to meet Kat. Having only seen her on television, Melanie was a bit intimidated and nervous to meet such a talented artist--however, from the initial hello she knew Kat would be an amazing person.

Melanie at LA Ink Kat immediately drew Melanie's tattoos, accommodating them to her liking. Melanie chose two doves as the design to be placed on the back side of both ankles. Throughout the process Kat conversed with Melanie and her parents asking them about their life back home in Philadelphia as well as telling a few fascinating tattoo stories of her own. Melanie mentioned to Kat that she loved to draw, and Kat informed her that she began her own career by drawing. Kat encouraged Melanie to continue drawing and requested to see some of her work.

Melanie was astounded at the first glimpse of her finished tattoos. They were perfect, just as she had imagined. She thanked Kat with a hug and was surprised when Kat gave to her, her very own drawing journal with a personalized inscription and drawing on the front page. Melanie was completely appreciative of the gift -as were her parents. Kat also autographed multiple items for the family and took tons of pictures with everyone.

Melanie

Overall, Melanie and her family were tremendously thankful for the experience and could not have asked for a better time. With an exception of a few celebrities, not many people can say that they have an original Kat Von D tattoo-but Melanie certainly can and she loves it.
