Family members of Sophie Jane Darr visit the office to present a donation in her memory. Sophie was a former wish child whose wish was to visit Disney World with her family. To celebrate her life and memory, Sophie's grandfather, Mike Darr, organized the 'Ride for Sophie' motorcycle ride held this past summer to benefit Make-A-Wish Foundation of Philadelphia & Susquehanna Valley. The cross-country motorcycle ride raised over $4,000, which will sponsor a wish for another child suffering from a life-threatening medical condition. Mike stands in the photo with his family holding his grandson, and Sophie's little brother, Henry. Thank you to Mike and family for celebrating Sophie's life by giving hope and joy to another child in need.

Wish teen Kerri O'Donnell stands beside Bill Stephenson, Chief Commercial Officer for Global Business Units at De Lage Landen Financial Services and Nancy McNamara, Manager-Administration at De Lage Landen (DLL). DLL raised over $330,000 at its September golf outing and invited Kerri and her family to attend the event. DLL sponsored her wish to meet Zac Efron this past February, and has fulfilled 188 children's wishes over the past five years.

US Restaurants executives along with Burger King employees present a generous $100,000 check to Make-A-Wish Foundation. US Restaurants, a franchisee of 37 area Burger King Restaurants, raised the funds through a company golf outing and in-restaurant fundraiser inviting customers to donate $1.00 for a coupon sheet of Burger King items valued at almost $20.00. Many thanks to our friends at US Restaurants for their kind generosity.

Participants at the 32nd Annual Coley Pro-Am enjoyed a weekend of golf this August 22-24 at Whitford Country Club and Penn Oaks Golf Club. The Coley Pro-Am gives amateur golfers in our region the opportunity to join with top PGA pros. The event sponsors some of our chapter's wishes made by children living in the Chester County area.

The Annual ABC Construction Rodeo was held near Manheim, PA. Jack Zimmer, president and CEO of the Associated Builders and Contractors Keystone Chapter, said the annual fundraiser for Make-A-Wish Foundation has raised more than $300,000 since it began in 1996! Thank you for your continued support.

US Restaurants team members greet golfers at the 1st Annual US Restaurants Golf Outing to benefit Make-A-Wish held Monday, June 9. The temperature topped 98 degrees, but it didn't stop some 84 golfers from enjoying the day and helping fulfill wishes for children. Special thanks to US Restaurants for joining as our new corporate partner.

Denise Plank, volunteer, registers a walker for the Highmark Walk for a Healthy Community on Saturday, June 7th. A new event for the chapter, Highmark Blue Shield sponsored a 5K and One mile Fun Walk with proceeds divided among several charities. Forty three walkers registered and donated over $1400 in spite of the high temperatures.

Nockamixon State Park provided a serene backdrop for a check presentation made by Steelman Triathlon organizers to Make-A-Wish Foundation of Philadelphia & Susquehanna Valley. The 3rd year for this event, some 950 athletes began their journey at Nockamixon State Park on August 12 to race in the triathlon that has earned USAT Regional Championship status. The end result was a generous donation of $8000. Make-A-Wish Foundation congratulates Karen Shimer, independent business owner of TSS Photography of Northern Chester County. Ms. Shimer was presented with an award recently by CEO of TSS Photography and Chairman of Make-A-Wish Foundation of America, Carl Hansson, recognizing her as the 2006/2007 Franchise with the Highest Percentage Donation. She collected the highest number of donations as a percent of total sales. This year, the entire network of TSS Photography has donated $73,283 to Make-A-Wish Foundation. The company donates $2.00 for every Make-A-Wish Keepsake picture frame sold; along with donations each time certain identified products are sold. TSS customers also are able to donate to the Foundation with their photography orders. Keenan Auto Body Vice President, Michael LeVasseur announced a $20,000 donation to Make-A-Wish Foundation as a result of the 9th Annual Charity Golf Outing held at Paxon Hollow Country Club this June 7th. "We are extremely pleased to have raised more money than ever before," stated LeVasseur. "Every year the outing gets more exciting and more money is raised." All proceeds hadn't been collected by the time of the check presentation that stated $17,500, however the actual donation to Make-A-Wish Foundation of Philadelphia & Susquehanna Valley reached $20,000 after the final tally. July 30 marked the 8th Annual Beth O'Brien Memorial Swimathon held at Nassau Swim Club in Ridley Park.
